OPEN POSITIONS

Director of Finance

We are seeking a full-time (40 hrs. per week) Director of Finance who will provide financial leadership to the library by directing and managing the financial, accounting, budget, grants, gifts, and special fund functions for the department, and ensuring efficient, accurate, and responsive operations. Services will include, but not be limited to, preparing and monitoring budgets; long- and short-term fiscal planning; monitoring proper internal controls; submitting the Annual Financial Report to Gateway; supervising the full-time bookkeeper; and overseeing system-wide fiscal management. The Director will budget for preventive maintenance and make recommendations to the Executive Director and the Board regarding capital improvements.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor’s in Accounting
  • Required: Minimum 6 years of relevant, professional experience working in the Finance field
  • Required: Competency with Windows-based computer systems and electronic bookkeeping programs
  • Preferred: Previous experience in payroll preparation and employee benefits
  • Preferred: Experience with fund accounting
  • Preferred: Public Library funding and/or record-keeping under Indiana rules, laws, and regulations
  • Preferred: Experience using Blackbaud Financial Edge software
  • Preferred: Experience with the Department of Local Government Funds and Gateway
  • Preferred: CPA

Teen and Adult Services Librarian

The Teen and Adult Services Librarian at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library is responsible for developing, promoting, and implementing diverse programs and services for teens and adults in the community. The librarian works to foster a love of reading, support lifelong learning, and create a welcoming environment where teens and adults can explore their interests, access resources, and participate in community events. This role involves active collaboration with library staff, local organizations, and patrons to enhance the library’s services and collections for these age groups.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • Required: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or near completion of the degree.
  • Required: Indiana Public Library Librarian Certification Level 3 or above (or the ability to attain a temporary permit or certification within six months).
  • Required: Valid Indiana Driver’s License or the ability to attain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Previous experience working with teens and adults in a public library or similar setting is preferred but not required.
  • Proven track record of developing successful programming and outreach initiatives.
  • Familiarity with teen and adult literature, media, and popular culture trends.

Head of Circulation

The Head of Circulation directly supervises the Circulation Staff at the Zionsville location and ensures visitors feel welcome and receive exceptional customer service. Additionally, the responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of responsibilities, including creating staff schedules, writing and conducting staff performance reviews, working the public service desks, ordering supplies, processing holds, some reference assistance, community-building endeavors, and customer service. This position requires a great deal of flexibility and the ability to deal well with ambiguity.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • Indiana Public Library Certification Level 3 or above (or the ability to obtain a temporary permit or certification within 6 months of hire)
  • Supervisory Experience (3-4 years)
  • Valid IN Driver’s License (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire)

Roving Public Service Associate

This position is a newly created and strategic role within HMMPL, designed to provide flexible, system-wide support where it is needed most. Although the position will be based at the Zionsville Branch, it will operate as a mobile resource, traveling to the location experiencing the greatest staffing need. In addition, the person in this role will be occasionally scheduled to represent the Library at community events, ensuring consistent service across all branches and outreach efforts. This position requires a flexible schedule including nights and weekend shifts.

The Roving Public Service Associate is a part-time (20-25 hrs. per week) position and will serve as the primary point of contact for patrons, contributing to a positive atmosphere through providing exceptional customer service to patrons. Working primarily at the public service desks, they will engage in a range of responsibilities, including material check-ins and outs, holds management, library card registration, and resolution of account inquiries.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED required
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills for effective interaction with patrons and team members.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Windows with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Previous experience in customer service and working as a member of a team.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and maintain order.
  • Sensitivity to diverse patron needs and a commitment to promoting inclusivity.
  • Experience with the Dewey Decimal System and Integrated Library Systems preferred.
