Become A Volunteer

Our volunteers help the Library provide services and programs to our members. These services are a big part of making the Library such a special place for our community.  If you are interested in helping the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library staff, then read our volunteer opportunities below and fill out your application!

Adult Volunteer Opportunities

Adult volunteer opportunities include positions in the youth department, teen/adult department, and our circulation department. Please read the descriptions of the departments below. If you would like to apply, fill out an application. Return it on your next visit to the Library!

Youth Department

Volunteers assist in maintaining the collections. They help with displays, decorations, and assist with reading programs.

Teen/Adult Departments

Volunteers pull materials to fulfill holds. These volunteers assist in maintaining the collections, help with displays and craft projects, and organizing the seed library.

Circulation Department

Volunteers assist with re-shelving media, cleaning books and preparing for programs.

Student Volunteer Opportunities

Student volunteers work with the Teen Librarian on various projects for the teen department. Projects occur year-round for specified, short periods of time.

SUMMER EXTREME TEEN VOLUNTEER CORPS

We will be needing teen volunteers to work at the library during the 2025 Summer Reading Program! These positions will be for students who will be in high school or college during the 2025-2026 school year. Volunteers work one to two four-hour shifts a week promoting the Summer Reading Program, awarding prizes, and assisting librarians with a variety of tasks. For more information about the Extreme Teen Volunteer Corps, please watch this space for more information.
