Books written in verse are great for ages 9-12 and for reluctant readers. The story moves along quickly and visually is less daunting because there are fewer words and more white space. Just because these titles are recommended for reluctant readers, however, doesn’t mean they are simple concepts. Often, these stories are full of heart and are impactful due to the fact that the words, carefully chosen, carry a lot of weight.
