Feb 19, 2021 REUSE Heart & Sole Shoe Collection Deadline Approaches!
The REUSE Heart & Sole shoe collection program, sponsored by the Boone County Solid Waste Management District, is almost over for 2021! Drop off any shoes you no longer want, regardless of wearability, in the large bags at either the Library’s main 5th St. or 6th St. entrance before Feb. 24th! Shoes in great shape need no help, gently used shoes will be mended, and shoes with no life left in them will be recycled. The BCSWMD supports Changing Footprints, a Central Indiana non-profit that redistributes shoes to those in need all over Central Indiana. Did you know that discarded shoes can take over 200 years to decompose in a landfill, which is a shame when there are so many people in need of shoes locally and all over the world. So clean out your closets, mud rooms, and garages of old shoes and help provide footwear for others. Donations will be picked up by BCSWMD next Wednesday, Feb. 24th.
