AUTHORITY OF THE BOARD

Upholding the Library’s Mission

The board has authority as outlined in Indiana Code 36-12 including the following:

  • Shall govern and set policy
  • May make rules
  • Manage and insure all property belonging to the Library
  • May establish a sufficient number of Libraries, branches or stations that are conveniently located to serve the residents of the Library district within the resources available
  • May acquire, as well as sell or otherwise dispose of real or personal property
  • Shall determine the rate of taxation for the Library district that is necessary for the proper operation of the Library.

APPOINTEES

Appointed Members

The board members are appointed by the following local elected officials:

  • Boone County Commissioners appoint one member
  • Boone County Council appoints one member
  • Zionsville Community School Corporation appoints three members
  • Zionsville Town Council appoints one member
  • Zionsville Town Council President appoints one member

Appointees serve a term of four years and serve without pay. We appreciate their service to the Library.
